Public Legal Education

ACE staff participate in conferences and speaking engagements for older adults and service providers. With an emphasis on self-advocacy, ACE aims to provide older adults with the information necessary to advocate for themselves or to identify problem areas in which they may wish to seek legal assistance. Education programs are also directed at service providers for older adults to educate the community to recognize the rights of the older adult’s population.

ACE staff have also prepared written materials on a wide range of topics. In addition to numerous brochures, ACE has published a detailed manual entitled Long-Term Care Facilities in Ontario: The Advocate’s Manual. ACE has also produced a 20-minute DVD on Powers of Attorney.

Speaking Engagements

If you are interested in having an ACE lawyer speak to your organization or at an event, please complete our Speaking Engagement Request Form. We recommend that you submit your request at least two months prior to the event to allow enough time for our office to review and respond to your request.

If you have any questions regarding a Speaking Engagement Request, please contact our Community Outreach Co-Ordinator at kimberlee.wargalla@ace.clcj.ca.
