Ontario Courts Accessibility Committee (OCAC) – Accessibility Survey

Survey of Accessibility for People with Disabilities in Ministry Courts
We need your feedback!
The Advocacy Centre for the Elderly (ACE), in partnership with the Ontario Courts Accessibility Committee (OCAC), invites people with disabilities who have used an Ontario courthouse — and those who have supported them (such as family members, lawyers, paralegals, mental health or support workers) — to share their experiences.
English Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/OCACSurveyEN
French Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/OCACSondageFR
Who should respond?
If you have a disability and have used an Ontario courthouse, please take a few minutes to tell us about your experience. We also welcome responses from people who can comment on the courthouse experience of a person with a disability — for example, family members, support workers, lawyers, paralegals, or judicial officials.
Accessibility of the Survey
OCAC has attempted to make the survey as accessible as possible. However, because it is hosted on a third-party platform (SurveyMonkey), there are some known accessibility issues, including:
-
Information and Relationships: Semantic structure is used to designate headings but is not used appropriately in terms of ordering. There are instances where there are hidden headings (H3) on the page and this prevents a sensible semantic order.
-
Contrast (Minimum): The Survey Monkey logo does not meet the minimum contrast requirement.
-
Focus Visible: When tabbing though the page, it is not visually apparent which page element has the current keyboard focus.
-
Parsing: There are multiple errors relating to HTML/XHTML validation/parsing.
-
Timing Adjustable: The time limit is longer than 20 hours.
OCAC has notified SurveyMonkey of these issues to advocate for improved accessibility.
